Who This Is For

Newport Exchange is a marketplace exclusively for residents of Newport, Jersey City. By registering, you confirm that you are a current Newport resident and that the building you select is accurate. Accounts found to be misrepresenting residency may be suspended.

Independent Platform

Newport Exchange is an independently operated, resident-run marketplace. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected with Newport Rentals or any building management, ownership, or leasing company. Building names are used solely to identify listing locations and remain the property of their respective owners.

Your Account

• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
• One account per person. Impersonating another resident or creating a fake account is not allowed.
• We may deactivate accounts that violate these terms, post prohibited content, or misrepresent residency. Deactivation can be reversed if the issue is resolved — contact us to appeal.

Posting Listings

You may not list:

• Illegal items, weapons, ammunition, or hazardous materials.
• Counterfeit or stolen goods.
• Recalled products or items that pose a safety risk.
• Animals or pets.
• Anything requiring a license to sell (e.g. alcohol, prescription medication).

Listings should be accurate and honestly represent the item's condition. We may remove any listing that violates these terms, at our discretion, without prior notice.

Transactions Are Between Neighbors

Newport Exchange is a listing platform only — we are not a party to any transaction. All sales are arranged directly between buyer and seller, paid in cash, with no fees or payment processing through the site. We do not inspect items, verify listings, guarantee condition or authenticity, or mediate disputes between users. You transact at your own risk and are responsible for evaluating any item before you buy.

For your safety, always meet in your building's lobby or another public, well-lit area — never inside a private unit.

Reporting a Problem

If a listing or a user violates these terms — a prohibited item, suspected scam, harassment, or a resident who doesn't appear to live in Newport — you can report it directly from the listing page. Our team reviews reports and may remove listings or suspend accounts as a result.

Limitation of Liability

Newport Exchange is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss, damage, injury, or dispute arising from a transaction, item, or interaction between users conducted through the site.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time as the site evolves. Continued use of Newport Exchange after a change means you accept the updated terms.
